A MID-YEAR SAFETY REMINDER

Over the first half of the 2016 race season, we have noticed in all categories an increase in brake and parachute failures. These failures have contributed to more vehicles not being able to stop properly. The NHRA Technical Department would like to remind all competitors to thoroughly inspect your brake and parachute systems. Please look for damage to brake lines, rotors, discs etc.. It is important for you to make sure that your brakes are working properly before each pass. As always, please make sure you properly store your parachutes when not in use and keep them clean and dry. You should also make sure that there is no damage to the parachute’s panels or shroud lines. Before each run, you should also check your parachute linkage to make sure it is operational. Additionally, if your category requires that you run fire resistant coverings over your shroud lines or parachute tethers these should be inspected as well. Let’s all have a great and safe second half of the season.
