Tuesday Tech Question presented by Evans Coolant

I have a 64 Mustang with a roll bar that runs low 11’s.  I was told that my low back bucket seats are properly supported by the cross bar but I still need a head protector.  Is this correct?

Answer:

That is correct, General Regulations section 20 page 43 of the 2016 NHRA Rulebook reads. "In any car where a roll bar or roll cage is installed, a padded head protector must be provided at the back of the driver’s head and constructed in an attempt to prevent whiplash upon impact. A seat that incorporates a reinforced head rest is permitted."
