NHRA Race Added to NHRA Southeast Division

NHRA Officials announced today that they have added a sixth event to the 2016 Southeast Division NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series schedule.  The event will be a second event at Atlanta Dragway forming a double-header weekend March 31-April 3, 2016.

"We reviewed several options to add a sixth race to the 2016 Lucas Oil schedule,” said Rich Schaefer, NHRA Southeast division director.  “Making Atlanta Dragway a double-divisional weekend is the best option and allows racers to attend two points events on one travel weekend.”

The first event will take place on Thursday and Friday, March 31 and April 1, followed by the second event on Saturday and Sunday. The two events are separate from each other with both events awarding points toward divisional and national championships in the Lucas Oil Series as well as the 2016 JEGS Allstar event held at Route 66 Raceway outside Chicago.  This brings the total number of Lucas Oil series events to 44 across the seven NHRA divisions.

The 2016 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series kicks off at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona and the Circle K NHRA Winternationals with the divisional series getting underway February 26-28, in Baytown, Texas, at Royal Purple Raceway.
