Beech Bend Readies for Return of JEGS NHRA SPORTSnationals

A lot has changed, yet a lot remains the same as Beech Bend Raceway Park readies for the return of the JEGS NHRA SPORTSnationals presented by Quick Fuel to Bowling Green, Ky., May 27-29.  It was at the popular family campground, amusement park and racing complex that the all-sportsman race was born in 1974 and was last contested at Beech Bend in 1986.

An ambience like no other in drag racing, Beech Bend nestled in the rolling country side of South Central Kentucky still has the same covered grandstands to sit and enjoy some of the best NHRA sportsman racing in the country.  And how many drag strips have air conditioned rest rooms.

From a racer’s perspective they can count on great traction, a Beech Bend trademark, and Bob Brockmeyer, president of Compulink is scheduled at the track in early May to give his timing system a go over prior to the Memorial Day weekend event.

Last fall Dallas Jones, owner of Beech Bend Raceway, had the staging lanes, paved pit areas, return roads and entrance road into the park all re-paved.
