NHRA officials announced today a temporary TELEHEALTH option that allows the extension of active Level 1-3 licenses through August 30th, 2020. Thse TELEHEALTH option will provide an alternative for competitors who are unable to schedule an exam with their primary care physician due the COVID-19 pandemic.

The applicant will contact a physician to schedule a TELEHEALTH exam and share the link below with the physician.  The physician will be able to complete the NHRA’s Temporary Driver’s Medical Certificate via the online form, which is immediately submitted to NHRA upon submission.  The applicant/patient will receive a confirmation email with an attached application for license renewal, that must be completed then submitted to the NHRA Division Offices for processing.  Detailed instructions/steps are listed below – if you have specific questions about this process, contact the NHRA Competition Licensing Staff for more information.

**This option is only available for Levels 1-3 renewal applicants over the age of 17.**
***The NHRA team is currently developing a similar option for JDRL renewals.***


1.    Confirm you are eligible for temporary Driver’s Medical Certificate. 

·      Currently licensed with a level 1, 2, or 3.

·      Current license expires between 1/31/2020 & 7/31/2020

2.    Contact and schedule a telehealth appointment with a licensed MD or DO physician.

3.    Provide physician with link to online Temporary Medical Certificate for their completion during the exam process.


4.    Once exam is completed, results will be received by NHRA Licensing Staff at time of physician’s submission.

5.    Applicant will receive immediate confirmation email including an attached Temporary License Renewal Application to be submitted to NHRA Division Office.

6.    Application will be returned if any information is incomplete.

7.    Any matter, including without limitation any conditions or medications, in this examination may be referred to an NHRA medical consultant for review, and may be cause for rejection.

8.    Temporary medical certificates expire 8/30/2020.  Applicant must submit full completed Driver’s Medical Certificate & License Application by set deadline:

1.    This medical certificate must be completed by an M.D. or D.O. only.

2.    This examination is for a driver's racing competition license.

3.    M.D. or D.O. must complete medical history information.

4.    Record your medical findings.

5.    This form to be completed in full. If unable to complete or obtain any findings, refer patient to a second physician and attach any supplements.

6.    M.D. or D.O. must sign this form.

7.    Application and attachments must be in English.

8.    Return completed original form to applicant. Copies not accepted.
