The following action has been taken against Paul Smith regarding unsafe actions after a run that occurred on September 13, 2024, during the Pep Boys NHRA Nationals. The starter was attached to your Funny Car, and you turned the engine over after a run on the return road. Smith has been fined Two Thousand Five Hundred dollars ($2,500). Dennis Kline was disqualified and fined $1,000 for having one of his parachutes pinned while making a pass with his Top Sportsman entry during the NHRA Lucas Oil Division 3 event at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY held August 23-24, 2024. The fine is appealable. The fine will be dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of the Safety Safari. 73101

The NHRA Technical department wants to remind competitors the use of a quick action fuel shut off valve is mandatory on cars equipped with carburetor(s) or nonelectronic fuel (EFI) systems but with mechanical non-OEM fuel pumps must have a quick-action fuel-shutoff valve within easy reach of driver and located in the main fuel line between the fuel tank and the carburetor and/or injectors. 73098

Based on the FLEXJET NHRA Factory Stock Showdown performance numbers from the Toyota NHRA US Nationals in Indianapolis, IN, the NHRA Technical Department is increasing the supercharger overdrive by changing the supercharger rear jack shaft pulley and rear cog pulley for the 2019-2023 Chevrolet COPO 350 from 32 teeth to 34 teeth on the jack shaft pulley and from 34 teeth to 32 teeth on the supercharger pulley. NHRA officials announced a schedule change in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series for the upcoming NHRA Carolina Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte.

Based on the FLEXJET NHRA Factory Stock Showdown performance numbers from the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, MN, the NHRA Technical Department is increasing the supercharger overdrive by changing the upper supercharger pulley for the 2021 Dodge Drag Pak 354 from 3.750 inches to 3.625 inches.
