Harvey Emmons was disqualified from the Division 4 Event 41 in his Stock entry for violating the window net, helmet visor, neck collar and glove requirements. Mr. Emmons will receive 0 points from the event which will be charged as 1 of the driver’s 8 eligible divisional or 5 national scored events for the current season. Les Feist was disqualified in his Top Dragster from (LODRS 21). Les made a pass in the second round of qualifications at 5.996 seconds. His pass below the minimum of 6.00 seconds resulted in his disqualification from the event. This disqualification is not appealable. 72732

After extensive review, careful consideration and working with many of the race teams, the NHRA has elected to update the rule regarding EFI and Coil-on-Plug (COP) ignitions in Top Alcohol. COP may be used in conjunction with electronic or mechanical-injected fuel systems on blown alcohol combinations. COP and EFI is not permitted, however is being evaluated, for A/Fuel combinations. 72728

To clarify the new EFI rule in Top Alcohol for 2023, the NHRA Tech Department is issuing an update to the rule. EFI is only allowed on blown alcohol combinations, and to further clarify, multi-coil ignition systems (COP/CNP) are only allowed to be used with EFI. Jan. 20, 2023 The purpose of the rule change was due to incidents that have occurred in the pits, to reduce these incidents/concerns we were asked to prohibit the use of blinders in classes where we have experienced incidents in the pits due to the use of blinders. Discovery of blinders/staging aids could be cause for disqualification of run, regardless of whether infraction occurs during qualifying or eliminations; at the sole and absolute discretion of NHRA. 72715
