Horsepower adjustments following the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals
As the result of runs under the Automatic Horsepower Factoring System (AHFS) 1.20-second under policy at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, the following changes have been made.

NHRA Hoosier Racing Tire Bulletin
In response to the most recent Hoosier Tire Product Bulletin, NHRA will not accept any Hoosier Racing Tires for use on A/Fuel Dragsters. In addition, NHRA will not accept Hoosier Racing Tires: Catalog Number: 18900, Size 36X17-16, Construction Tag: C2055 for use in any of the following classes: Pro Mod, Top Alcohol Funny Car and Top Alcohol Dragster. As a reminder to all racers, a new roll-cage padding rule goes into effect June 1, 2011.

Top Fuel minimum weight adjusted
Effective immediately, the minimum weight for Top Fuel is changed from 2,300 pounds to 2,320 pounds. A recently completed study by the NHRA Technical Department has revealed that the addition of items such as the Accident Data Recorder, the Safety Shut-off Device, parachute tethers, and improved oil-retention devices has had an impact on the minimum weight of these cars.

Automated rpm-control devices to be prohibited in TAD, TAFC
Effective April 13, 2011, Top Alcohol Dragsters and Top Alcohol Funny Cars will not be permitted to have automated rpm-control devices (i.e., two-steps, etc.) during the staging/launching process unless they have a fully automatic transmission with a converter.

After reviewing feedback from racers, sponsors and others within the industry, NHRA has expanded the number of eligible races for the newly created National Class Performer Awards to 11 for Stock and Super Stock Class Eliminations.

NHRA Competition Index Control changes for 2011
NHRA has announced changes to the CIC system that will be implemented this season. The changes involve the adjustment point for permanent index reductions as the result of performance at events with favorable atmospheric conditions; the introduction of year-end index reviews to adjust indexes up or down based on the performances of the class as a whole.

NHRA announces amendments to Rulebook in four classes
As part of its continuing efforts to enhance safety, NHRA announced today that rear carbon fiber brake rotors and pads will be mandatory for Top Fuel Dragsters, Funny Cars, Top Alcohol Dragsters and Top Alcohol Funny Cars effective July 21, 2010, and front carbon fiber brakes will be mandatory for Funny Cars and Top Alcohol Funny Cars by August 11, 2010. The vast majority of vehicles in these classes already use this equipment.
