The NHRA Technical department wants to clarify to Stock and Super Stock Eliminator competitors the Chevrolet El Camino designation/platform.
All El Caminos from 59-87 are listed in the MVMA’s on either A platforms, B platforms, or G platforms. No, El Camino has ever been listed by the manufacture as a pick-up truck, they have all been listed as Sedan pick-up which means they were built on a sedan platform not a pick-up truck platform.
In view of the fact that some, if not all Stock Eliminator racers have spent time and money to purchase and develop camshafts using the higher than OEM valve lift per NHRA rules for pick-up trucks we are going to allow these parts to be used for the remainder of the 2022 racing season.
On January 1st, 2023 the camshaft valve lift must be no greater than the OEM specification for the year/engine claimed.
