Question: I would like to take my Street Legal 2018 Dodge Demon to my local NHRA track but I do not see any Street Legal rules in the 2018 NHRA Rulebook. Is there an NHRA Street Legal rules supplement that I can get? Question: I was thinking about replacing the OEM windows in my 1972 Vega Super Pro car. What requirements must I follow? Answer: In the 2018 NHRA Rulebook, section 4A Super Pro, page 6, WINDSHIELD, WINDOWS it reads “May be replaced with shatterproof material, 1/8-inch-minimum thickness. OEM windshield may not be cut for scoops, carb, etc. Windshield/window tint must meet applicable state requirements. Windows must be closed during races, need not be operable.” 7074

Question: Am I allowed to have a laptop in the driver’s compartment? Answer: Yes, Per the 2018 Rulebook section 21, page 37-38, Support Group: 9, second paragraph. It reads: During NHRA competition, a portable computer (e.g., laptop, PDA, Palm Pilot, programmer, etc.) must be securely mounted when located in driver’s compartment at any point beyond the staging area ready line. All functions or values must be pre-set prior to this point. 70739

Question: What kind of safety rules do I need to follow with my nitrous bottle? Answer: A nitrous bottle in the driver’s compartment must have a relief valve and vented outside the drivers compartment. Commercially available, thermostatically controlled, blanket-type warmer accepted. 70736

NHRA is introducing a new pre-event contingency program for national events where racers can go into the NHRA Racer Registration site and fill out their contingency verification sheet prior to competing at a national event.
