Question: I currently have a mid 9-second 1980 Monza bracket car with a big block Chevy that I was thinking of running in Super Gas. Will I still be able to use my nitrous oxide system? Question: I see from the recently posted 2012 NHRA Rule Amendments that Top Fuel and Funny Car are required to use an SFI 15.4 rear wheel next year. As a result of the twenty horsepower added to the 2010 Ford Cobra Jet (automatic only) 330 cubic inch 435/490 in Stock Eliminator, the combination is no longer eligible for Stock Eliminator. This is due to the combination now required to carry 565 pounds of ballast. Per the 2011 NHRA Rulebook Section 20 page 16-17 it reads in-part “Maximum amount of removable and/or permanent ballast, unless otherwise stated under Class Requirements is 500 pounds.” 48393

As the result of runs under the Automatic Horsepower Factoring System (AHFS) 1.20-second under policy at the LODRS event 1-6, the following change has been made.

As a result of the sixteen horsepower added to the 2008 Ford Cobra Jet (manual only) 330 cubic inch 425/491 in Stock Eliminator, the combination is no longer eligible for Stock Eliminator. This is due to the combination now required to carry 610 pounds of ballast. Per the 2011 NHRA Rulebook Section 20 page 16-17 it reads in-part "Maximum amount of removable and/or permanent ballast, unless otherwise stated under Class Requirements is 500 pounds."
