The following serves as a notice to all Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals teams. NHRA through Bandimere Speedway will be providing teams with approved containers for used fluids and solvents. TEAMS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING ALL REGULATIONS AND NHRA RULES.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING FOR DENVER:
The State of Colorado no longer allows used oil filters to be placed into the trash bound for landfill. Bandimere Speedway will have containers for used oil filters on hand in Denver. There will be a collection point at the Recycle center in the Sportsman area as well as a collection point in the Pro Pit Recycle Center. Bring all spent oil filters to the Recycle Centers. All filters will be recycled, metal, paper and remaining oil.
All containers of fuel, solvent, oil or any other liquids or materials that would constitute a pollutant if spilled onto the ground must meet all of the following criteria:
must be in an EPA/DOT approved, locking lid container
must remain closed when not in use
must not be damaged or altered in any way, for example no holes can be drilled into the container, drums or locking lid
Competitors are not to damage the Bandimere Speedway drums please do not putting any holes in the tops of the drums
Disposal of fuel, solvent, oil or any other liquids or materials that would constitute a pollutant if spilled onto the ground must meet all of the following criteria:
All aerosol cans must be punctured to insure that they are empty and will go into metals recycling, a puncturing system is available for team use at the Bandimere Speedway Recycle Center.
fuel, solvent, oil or any other liquids must each be disposed of in separate containers. Disposing of any used fuel, solvent, oil or any other liquids into unapproved container or mixing waste streams constitutes hazardous material. Used oil is NOT considered a hazardous material if not mixed with other waste streams
used or unused solvent cans CANNOT be disposed of in a trash container. Solvent cans used or unused must be disposed of in a separate container. These cans can be brought to the Bandimere Speedway Recycle Center in the Pro Pits, cans will be drained and sent for metal recycling.
used rags CANNOT be disposed of in a trash container. Used rags must be disposed of in a separate container.
Non-hazardous material with a continued use to the team may be taken by the team when the team leaves the facility. The team is responsible for ensuring that the material is stored and transported in accordance with all applicable EPA/DOT regulations. Teams electing not to remove their own non-hazardous, recyclable/reusable material will be required to make arrangements with Bandimere Speedway.
Teams found in violation of the NHRA approved Department of Environmental Protection rules and procedures will be subject to fines. For example, fines will be imposed for hazardous material created by mixing waste streams and for any damaged container.
Teams are strongly encouraged to direct any questions about their specific needs or used fluids/ solvents to Bandimere Speedway. Representatives will be on site starting Wednesday morning.
