The following serves as an important notice to all NHRA Sonoma Nationals Teams.
TEAMS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING ALL REGULATIONS AND NHRA RULES.
The State of California has 35 separate Air Quality Management Districts (AQMDs). All of the large metropolitan area AQMDs have rules that - ban the use of solvent (mineral spirits) parts washers for cleaning and degreasing parts associated with race cars. This ban on solvent parts washers is in place at Infineon Raceway.
Aerosol Sprays are not permitted at Sonoma
Race Teams can use an aqueous (water-based) parts washer that contains less than 25 grams/liter of VOCs - such as Safety-Kleen’s ArmakleenÔ aqueous cleaning solutions which has 0.0 grams/liter of VOCs (these aqueous parts washers often require a special parts washer that can heat the aqueous cleaning solution in order to effectively clean and degrease parts);
Safety-Kleen will have Aqueous Part Cleaners in the Safety-Kleen Recycling Center located in the Pit Area at the track for all teams to use.
Teams found in violation of the AQMD rules and procedures can be subject to fines from California State agencies. Teams are strongly encouraged to direct any questions about their specific needs to Safety-Kleen.
Safety-Kleen reserves the right to invoice teams that generate hazardous material that require disposal after the event.
