Question:

I was told by my local NHRA technical inspector that my Advanced E.T. Chevy Cobalt is required to have a fire extinguisher system.  I did not think this was the case if I was not running any power adder.  Can you please tell me who is correct?

Cobalt Carl

Answer:

Cobalt Carl,

Your local NHRA technical inspector is correct.  A minimum 5-pound NHRA-accepted fire extinguisher system is mandatory on all Advanced E.T. cars running 7.49 or quicker in the 1/4-mile or 4.49 in the 1/8-mile, except rear-engine cars without an enclosed cockpit.
