Question:

I am just finishing up my street roadster to compete in bracket races at my local NHRA Member Track.  Am I required to wear arm restraints in this new car?

Arm Restraint Ralph

Answer:

Arm Restraint Ralph,

The NHRA requires the use of arm restraints in all open-bodied cars that run 11.99 (7.49 in the 1/8 mile) or quicker.  Since your car is a street roadster, it is considered open-bodied and therefore will require arm restraints if you run at the speeds listed above.  Please refer to the ET Section of the 2014 NHRA Rulebook, which is available on NHRARacer.com, for any additional questions.
