Question:

I have an original steel floor, firewall and body 1985 Camaro that I’m building for Pro ET.  It should run in the mid-10 second range.  Do I need to install a complete roll cage or will a roll bar suffice?

Roll Bar Ralphie

Answer:

Roll Bar Ralphie,

In your application the roll bar will work just fine.  In the 2013 NHRA Rulebook, ET Section 4A, page 5, Roll Cage it states “In full-bodied cars, with unaltered firewall, floor, and body (from firewall rearward, wheeltubs permitted), running between 10.00 (6.40*) and 10.99 (6.99*), roll bar permitted in place of roll cage.
