I’m in the process of building a Top Dragster for 2016 and wanted to know if there currently any ignition systems that are not legal?

Answer:

There are several systems that are not legal.  In the current 2016 NHRA Rulebook in the General Regulations section 20, page 36, 8:3 ignition, it states “The use of any programmable multi-point rev limiter and/or rate-of-acceleration rpm limiter, either by themselves (e.g., MSD 7561, MSD 7761) or integrated into the ignition system (e.g., MSD 7531), are prohibited in NHRA competition”

Additionally a list of approved ignition systems can be found on www.NHRARacer.com/ NHRA Accepted Products
